Mason County PUD 1 will investigate immediately all accidents involving PUD 1 employees and personnel in the pursuit of their PUD-related duties resulting in damage to person or property, as well as damage to PUD property caused by individuals other than PUD employees. If customers have incurred damages to their person or property, they may file a claim for damages with the District.

All claims will be reviewed by the District’s legal counsel and executive staff prior to being presented to the board of commissioners for consideration. No payment will be processed either directly or through the District’s insurance carrier without a signed damage claim form and release form from the claimant.

It is the policy of the District not to approve claims for damages that occurred as a result of incidents that are out of the District’s control and are not due to negligence on the part of the District. This includes equipment failure, weather/tree related outages, acts of nature, natural disasters, etc.
